AP history: already killing me
Ok. I'm a good student. I'm self motivated, a good listener, and take genuine interest in class discussions (or at least that's what my report cards say). AND I love history. Like really, I'm actually INTERESTED in it.
But I just picked up my textbook from school a couple days ago, so I can outline the first three chapters that are due the first day of school. OH MY GOD! No one said the chapters were like 25 pages each! So I started outlining the first chapter, adding plenty of details just like they did in the example sheet he gave us. By like halfway through I was just putting the basic facts, to save time and energy and space in my five-subject notebook (which I know already is not going to be big enough for the whole year). So now I'm a little ways into the second chapter, and I've limited myself to outlining just three major facts from each section, and STILL it's taking forever!
Drew, didn't you say you took AP history last year? Or was that someone else? Is there a trick to this outlining thing for saving time/space, or is it this big huge thing like I think it is? Because... idk. If it's going to be this much of a hassle all year, I might just not do it. Who has the time for all that??? I mean, I'm also taking Honors English, I'm Features Editor for AL, I'll be in Key Club and Honor Society AND I'll have a part time job. This class might totally push me over the edge if I have to do this all year. My only consolation is that I saw Nick Feldman getting his book when I went in to get mine, and he's going to be Editor in Chief, which will be way more time consuming than being Features Editor, so I figure if he can handle it, I definitely can.
It's just... I love history! I'm interested, and I'm extremely self-motivated!!! I am the model WHS student (not to brag, but you know). If I can't handle this, I highly doubt most other people could. So, yeah. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

The Online Notes (yes, they have all the notes online) are a handy reference tool. Spread out the outlining as much as you can. Don't do it all in the five days. Do like 7 pages a day from the start of each section. But mostly, don't stress it too much. It's long, it's mind numbing, there are no good ways around it. Just prioritize your sleep above your other things and stay calm.

Wow, I had no idea the notes were online! That's good. The sheet he gave us outlining the whole year said that for each unit (lasting four weeks) we had to outline like 8 chapters. How do they expect us to do that when each chapter is so long??? That's like 200 pages in four weeks! Or did I miss something?
